I never ever expected to come to enjoy a sports manga. Alas, I gave one such manga a chance (I don't remember why anymore). That manga is:
Eyeshield 21!!!
It made me grin, it made me happy, it made me excited for the cowardly Sena's gradual growth into a full-fledged warrior on the American football field.
I loved Hiruma throughout the whole thing, I loved the struggles the players faced, the emotion... I also adore the drawing style, the dynamic motion. The epicness that oozed from Sena in contrast to his shy attitude.
I really, really enjoyed the read.
And so I should be satisfied, right?
ALAS the ending has left a hole. I felt that the story wasn't resolved after all. It needed... Maybe 2-5 chapters more? Anyway, somehow, it felt like the manga-ka was suddenly told that Eyeshield's time to play was up and had to just... end it somehow. I have NO idea what way would have been best... Just that... Just that... I guess it's that many characters didn't get shown in the last chapters.
But, well, it's probably just me who likes to know what path every single character is taking. Like this, I can only be sure that Sena's aiming for the top brimming with fighting spirit and that he wants to try beating Hiruma... Hum.
Well, whatever. I guess it's back to reading Detective Conan, huh...
Before I go, would anyone happen to know of any show/comic/manga/etc. where the main character is a) a coward who turns epic (for example, Eyeshield 21, Katekyou Hitman Reborn) or b) is epic from the start (for example, Black Cat). I have a feeling I'll find a contender for One Piece in one of such stories.
Tata!
